November is the Month to Give Thanks!

We just wanted to take a moment and thank you all for your continued support! Your referrals throughout the year, your “likes” on Facebook, and your friendship means the world to us. Everyone gets busy, and we don’t always stop and take the time to appreciate the good things in our lives.

This year both Steve and I have made a conscious effort to be more grateful and present on a daily basis. When I start the morning appreciating all of the wonderful people, pets and things in my life, it sets the tone for the rest of the day. It puts a smile in my heart and on my face. It helps me put everything in perspective. Most of what each of us deal with on a daily basis is really, in the big scheme of things, pretty minor. Sometimes we let those minor things impact our day. I know there are some of you out there that are dealing with truly heart breaking issues—death of a loved one, or a severe illness. However, it’s how we choose to show up each day and what we choose to focus on that matters. While November is the month to give thanks, if we focus on appreciation every day, we will all lead happier lives.

Recently I was listening to NPR and the reporter was talking about aging and happiness. What the research revealed was that older people (people well into their 70’s, 80’s and 90’s) reported being happy. The older people reported that they didn’t have time to dwell on or get caught up in negative thinking. At first the reporter thought they were talking about time during the day, but what these older folks were talking about, was that they didn’t have enough time left to focus on anything negative. They were choosing to focus on happy things. I loved this!

So while November is the month to give thanks, if we focus on gratitude every day, we will all lead happier lives!
