It is not a surprise that both new listings and homes going under contract are down for the past two weeks. The Thanksgiving holiday took a lot of people out of the market temporarily. Even with the holiday there were still a decent number of homes that went under contract. This helped our inventory levels in both NW Seattle and SW Snohomish come down.
The great news for both Buyers and Sellers is that interest rates continue to come down. We are now down over a full point from the height in late October. This makes a huge impact on a Buyer’s monthly payment and overall purchasing power. Hopefully this trend will entice more Buyers back to the market. If rates keep coming down, buyers who bought earlier this year may be able to refinance those higher mortgages.
