Adoptable Pets at the Seattle Animal Shelter
Meet Poppy!
Bashful Poppy is looking for a quiet home where she can express her inner self! She is on the shy side and takes time to warm up to people, for this she needs someone with patience. She may gain more confidence from living with other mellow dogs. Poppy is a Husky through and through so when she feels comfortable enough to relax, we expect she may exhibit some typical Husky behaviors such as being talkative, inquisitive and super smart! She can be very cuddly and tender when she’s opened herself up to you and gives good kisses. She knows commands such as sit, stay and down. Superbly house-trained and excellent leash manners
Poppy arrived to with a serious case of Glaucoma that unfortunately could no longer be medically managed. They opted to remove her eye, leaving her with a beautiful and quirky look. This may be contributing towards her shyness as she cannot see from one side. This is relatively new for her still too and needs to re-learn her confidence
To meet Poppy, send an application (found here) http://www.seattle.gov/Documents/Departments/AnimalShelter/Dog%20Adoption%20Questionnaire_Fillable.pdf to animalcare@seattle.gov
Meet Bandit
This little scamp is one to love! A mere 2-5 years young, Bandit is both a cuddler and a playful cat. Incredibly social, he’ll chirp, chat and meow at you as well as come when called. Having lived a life as a stray, he is easily a hunter- give him some string or any toys and he will pounce and chase! Bandit is also diagnosed as FIV+ but that truly doesn’t hold him back. This just means that he should be an indoor cat and probably the only one-he had a tendency to get into scraps with other cats according to the civilian who brought him to the shelter. His status as FIV+ also means that he should be monitored every few months for any updates in his health.
Meet Frost!
Frost is a super happy boy guinea pig who’s social, talkative, and loves his fresh salads! He is eager to find his forever home and would love another boy guinea pig friend. Heβs just chilling at the shelter, waiting to see who comes to check him out. Frost can be handled and loves to explore.
GUINEA PIG CARE:
Seattle Animal Shelter Guinea Pig Care Guide: https://bit.ly/2UxLX70
You are expected to make a lifetime commitment to your guinea pig, and they should be treated as an integral part of the family. The primary caregiver must be a responsible adult, and young children should always be supervised when interacting with your guinea pig and instructed on proper approach and handling.
Guinea pigs like lots of roaming space. The larger the cage, the more active they can be! Use plenty of lining material like paper bedding, or scraps of fleece. Guinea pigs eat timothy hay. Provide fresh water every day. Guinea pigs also need hay-based pellets that are vitamin C fortified. Fresh green salads are leafy greens. Your guinea pig will need its nails trimmed twice a month and an annual vet check-up. Guinea pigs typically live six to nine years.
Meet Betty!
Meet Miss Betty, she’s got a medium energy level and would be a great partner for strutting around the neighborhood. True to her breed once you are in her inner circle she’s a demanding snuggle bunny. She may like other dogs but we don’t know what her experience has been in the past. She’s pretty forward so a cat may not like her pushy style.
To meet Betty send a questionnaire to animalcare@seattle.gov
