I love these full circle moments in Real Estate. I first met Mike and Liz at an open house in the Ravenna neighborhood in January 2005. They were selling their large family home of many years on Mercer Island and were looking for a smaller home in either NE or NW Seattle. We looked for several weeks but weren’t finding the right home. During this time, I kept telling them about the Magnolia neighborhood, which by the way, is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Seattle. They kept saying no, that it felt too far away from the University of Washington. Finally, I asked them to just humor me for an afternoon and let’s go look at homes in Magnolia. Well, long story short, they were smitten! In fact, I believe the house they bought was the first home we looked at in Magnolia. It was perfect for them – walking distance to the village, big picture windows and a great lot for gardening. Fast forward nineteen years and they were now moving to Portland to be closer to their daughters and grandkids.
We started talking with Mike and Liz nearly 10 months prior to their anticipated list date. I’m always so grateful when clients connect early with us. It gives us plenty of time to plan. In this case it gave us the opportunity to take their exterior and drone shots last June when their garden was at its fully glory. Their garden is beautiful and added significant value to the home. As we all know, even a gorgeous garden doesn’t look the best in February in Seattle! Having the garden photos let potential Buyers see what the garden will look like.
Starting early also gave Mike and Liz plenty of time to fix a few things and change out the flooring in the lower level. They could do these projects at their pace and not feel rushed or stressed. The house was ready for market by our target date of mid-February, and it looked great! We ended up with four solid offers and the home sold for $106K over the asking price. Of course, Mike and Liz were thrilled by the attention their home received and the ease of the transaction. We closed on March 20th and then they closed on their new home in SE Portland a few days later. Small world, their new home in Portland is about 10 blocks away from where I used to live in 1988 in the Sellwood neighborhood of Portland. Man, that takes me back!
Here’s what our client had to say …
“Sandra and Steve helped us sell our home in February. They are extremely professional and presented us with a comprehensive marketing plan prior to going on the market. The plan worked beautifully and they were both incredible helpful and a joy to work with. I highly recommend their services.” — Mike Nesbitt
