Free Downsizing Workshop
Please join us on Saturday March 14th 9:30AM – 11AM
Let’s face it, moving is very stressful! It is up there with divorce and economic stress such as losing a job. It is both physically and emotionally draining. Whether you move frequently or almost never, moving is an intensely emotional experience.
The burdens of the physical move combined with the underlying psychological issues such as loss, anxiety, or fear, can be daunting for any of us. However when you pile on the additional stress of having to condense a lifetime full of cherished possessions into a few small boxes and then leave your familiar surroundings behind, along with your friends and neighbors, it can be extremely overwhelming. This is tough for all of us, now imagine an elderly person trying to navigate this process on their own without loved ones to assist them. It can be paralyzing. It can zap the joy out of what could otherwise be a fabulous new adventure and next chapter in their life.
We understand that selling the family home is so much more than just a move. It is truly a life transition. When starting to consider downsizing, the first big decision is deciding where you or your loved one will be living next. Will you or your loved one be moving into a condo, single level home, or retirement community? Considerations also need to be addressed if you or your loved one has mobility, memory or other healthcare needs that may require extra care-giving. Fortunately there are lots of services that can help people through the entire process. We find it takes a village. Surrounding yourself with a good team of professionals and your emotional support system (friends, family, neighbors) is absolutely vital.
This will be an informative session and features Beth Schmidt a Senior Move Management Consultant. You will learn where to start, and go home with a list of resources on what to do with all of your stuff!
