Two other spacious bedrooms and remodeled full bath complete the bedroom wing.
The lower level of the home has a lot to offer the new owner. Water views from this level are just one of the many perks. Have you ever dreamed of having an entertainment space that was large enough for TV viewing and still had plenty of room for a game area, or a pool table? Well, your dreams have come true. The expansive lower-level family room is, in a word, awesome. This family room was designed for fun! From here, you will also enjoy easy access to the fully fenced west facing back yard.
Another bonus on the lower level is the extra-large 4th bedroom. This would make a perfect guest area, or home office with a view. Creative types may choose to use the space for a studio. The possibilities are endless. Also on this level is a second kitchen. This will come in handy when preparing for large parties, or simply storing snacks and refreshments so you don’t have to run upstairs. Sometimes it’s the little things that we enjoy the most. What we love about this home…
“When we decided to rebuild the home we purchased, we chose to use concepts found around the small home. The idea of being able to view other rooms with no room being large and cumbersome, each area intimate and comfortable. This was a style we were familiar with due to our upbringing. Additionally, we felt the house needed to true the era of the neighborhood with a classic, elegant style and modern efficiencies. Built in the craftsman style with clear fir trim, built-ins, an abundance of south facing windows for natural light, oak hardwood floors on the first and second levels, , a high ceiling basement, hydronic radiant heat throughout and Cat-5 cabling, for us, we feel we accomplished our intent. Over the years we have had many people stop and comment on the wonderful job we did updating an “old” house not realizing is was a new home. We have even had a few neighbors tell us they voted it their favorite house in the neighborhood.
We loved and frequently used the welcoming front porch. Many evenings were spent there relaxing with a glass of wine while people watching or conversing with the many people walking by. When we chose to be more private, we would retire to the back porch where the endless stream water feature muted the noise of the city giving us the illusion of isolation. The back porch provided an excellent spot for morning coffee watching the sunlight change as it worked its way through the leaves during the summer months. In the winter months, coffee next to the gas fireplace in the room off the kitchen was the next best thing with the winter morning light streaming in the windows overlooking the backyard.
On the holidays our home was the de-facto choice for gatherings. We would have to accommodate gathering sizes often over 50 people. Loved ones and guests were able to see the other members in other rooms, change rooms to join a different topic of conversation without everyone being in one room being excessively loud. The little ones were able to have a place they could go to make all the noise they wanted without interfering with the conversations. Of course, the main room for gathering was as usual the kitchen which itself was able to accommodate many without feeling crowded or impacting the delivery of the requisite food. Having a long driveway afforded plenty of off-street parking requiring plenty of coordination when the time to leave for the evening was nigh.
The location was ideal for us. With both Green Lake and Lower Woodland Park so close it felt like we had a recreational complex available 24/7. We had daily walks around the lake with our golden retrievers. Used the track for morning runs. Our son was involved in baseball and nearly all the games were then within walking distance. For our quiet walks we would walk to the Woodland Park Rose Garden when the roses were in bloom and for a diversion we would walk up the hill to Tangletown’s Elysian for beer and burger, a coffee at Zoka’s or an excellent meal the Mkt. During the summer months the Meridian Farmer’s Market was a short walk away.
For years working as a nurse for the University Hospital, walking or riding a bike to work was a great way to start the day, quiet and lacking the stress of traffic. Commuting elsewhere from the home is simple with easy access to 99, Eastlake or Westlake Avenues and I-5 making our home the ideal place for visiting relatives from afar to stay while partaking in the many Greater Seattle tourist sites.”
