Located near the popular Greenwood neighborhood, the main commercial area of Greenwood is at the corner of 85th and Greenwood. Greenwood is about 15 minutes into downtown via Aurora or I-5.

The original Greenwood Park was previously a commercial nursery and greenhouse for many years and was acquired by Seattle Parks and Recreation in November 1999 through the Seattle Open Space Program. The Greenwood community was very involved in the development of the park. Over the years, Seattle Parks and Recreation acquired the properties on the east side of the park with the final acquisition in 2013. The park is now the entire city block.
