Welcome to this lovely home in the desirable Broadview neighborhood. There is so much to love about this home. The undeniable curb appeal with Craftsman details such as shake siding and stone details is just the beginning. Built in 2004, this home has all the hallmarks of our most desired features. Today’s lifestyles demand simplicity and space for gathering and connection with those we love.

You will appreciate the perfect blend of formal and casual spaces. Greet your guest in the formal two-story entry. Upon entering the home, you will notice the gorgeous, refinished cherry hardwood floors throughout the main level. The sunny formal living room enjoys cathedral ceilings and southern light through large picture windows overlooking the front garden. The dedicated dining room is perfect for everyday meals or hosting traditional sit-down dinner parties for friends.

The heart of the home is the open kitchen which flows nicely into the family room. The chef in the house will never feel left out of the action. Whether you are cooking for one or a dozen, meal prep will be a breeze in the generous kitchen, featuring a timeless look of wood cabinets, granite counters and stainless appliances including gas cooking. The large prep island and walk-in pantry are features that you will appreciate daily. Even the simple task of washing dishes seems less boring as you gaze out the kitchen window enjoying the garden views and watching the birds dart through the back yard.

We love the light-filled family room just off the kitchen. The gas fireplace provides a focal point and ambiance for cozy evenings. Our favorite feature of the home is how connected the home feels to the backyard. Both the kitchen and family room overlook the back yard. The lucky new homeowner will absolutely love the charming back yard with plenty of entertainment space, a small pond that attracts a myriad of birds, including the occasional falcon and a detached finished studio with power. The current owners have always called the studio the Montana Room. This beefy structure features an indoor/outdoor wood burning fireplace, concrete floors and lots of windows. The studio would make an awesome private home office, game area or entertainment space. The uses are endless. Rain or shine, the back yard will be a destination any time of year. Outdoor heat lamps and electric awning turn the space into an outdoor living room suitable for year around use.

The upper level provides a unique layout. It is not often that you find 4 bedrooms on one level, plus a family room. The primary suite is spacious and private and is located away from the other three bedrooms. It includes plenty of closet space and an attached full bath. Three other bedrooms are perfect for kids, guests, home office, crafts, whatever you need. We love the upper level sunny, south facing family room. The checkerboard tile floors have a nostalgic feel. This would make a great home office, large play space, or cozy TV room.

What modern home would be complete without an attached garage? You will appreciate the convenience of the roomy two car garage with entry into the back hall on the main level. The nearby laundry and powder room complete this desirable home, that is truly designed for easy, everyday living. The home has been pre-inspected and is ready for its next owner.

Upon his death, the property was inherited by his children. His son Edward B. Dunn provided for the care of his share of the estate in his will. A trust was created two years after his death to oversee the entire property. Dunn Gardens were listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 15, 1994, and are open for special public events and docent-led guided tours April through July, and from September through October.

From the homeowner.

What we have loved about living in this home.

Being at the sink doing dishes and having the corner windows to gaze out at the trees and birds.

Every room single room is usable and practical.

One of the greatest highlights of the house for us was the bird watching at the pond. Our breakfast table was right by the sliding glass doors, and there was always so much bird activity going on – lots of hummingbirds, goldfinches, sparrows, even a falcon that visited and sat at the pond for 20 minutes at a time this past year!

The Indoor/outdoor living spaces – how the kitchen and family room area blend so seamlessly into the back patio. We got so much use out of the back patio year-round. In the warmer months – May to September we used it frequently for outdoor dining. And in the cooler, rainier months, we used it to hang out by the fire and entertain on the weekend evenings. If you put the awning down, turn the heat lamps on, and build a little fire in the fireplace, you can be out there comfortably even on the coldest winter days!

The location – you can walk or run to Carkeek and there are so many great hiking trails there that are not heavily trafficked. And if you drive a little bit North you can get to Richmond Beach, which was a gem.

The little touches like the raised and irrigated vegetable garden, the artistic iron fence, the water barrels, and the natural and integrated landscaping.
